Our Story

About Blue Deep

A tournament born from passion, built by the community, and driven by the open sea.

Founded 2013

Born From The Open Sea

Blue Deep Open was founded by a group of passionate Maldivian anglers who believed the Indian Ocean deserved a world-class fishing tournament. What began as a humble 20-boat weekend event has grown into the region's most prestigious angling championship, drawing competitors from across the globe.

Over twelve seasons we've welcomed over 2,000 teams, awarded more than $2 million in prizes, and built a community of anglers, captains, and ocean lovers that stretches far beyond the Maldives.

We celebrate the sport, the sea, and the spirit of competition — welcoming everyone from first-time anglers to seasoned professionals. Every cast counts. Every catch tells a story.

01

Ocean First

Every rule, every division, every decision starts with respect for the sea and its ecosystem. We partner with conservation bodies and run a full Catch & Release category.

02

Community

We are anglers, captains, families, and fans. The tournament is the event — but the community is the soul. From Youth Cup to Gala Night, we bring people together.

Excellence

World-class competition demands world-class standards — from vessel safety protocols and IGFA weigh-ins to media production and prize logistics.
